We present RapidCompact 1.5, coming with several notable improvements.
For mesh simplification, we have added an optional mode that guarantees the preservation of the input topology, triangle flip prevention and other quality improvements. In the texturing pipeline, we significantly reduced the number of output charts. Apart from this, PLY loading and OBJ writing in the CLI are now again faster than before, and we have performed smaller improvements and bugfixes in different areas, including texture baking, UV overlap handling and normal creation for non-manifolds.

We are proud and happy to announce the first official release of RapidCompact.
RapidCompact is our improved and rebranded version of the Fraunhofer software InstantUV, and we have decided to keep a continuity in the version numbers to preserve, to the possible extent, backwards compatibility of the solution within existing users’ ecosystems. Compared to InstantUV 1.3.2, RapidCompact 1.4 brings significant improvements regarding speed of the simplification, and improved texture baking functionality for baking of PBR maps and all kinds of generic textures (such as glossiness, specular, F0, cavity, etc.).
